How it all started...
Founded in 1952 through the obedience and vision of Reverend Robert and Irene King, our church began in a humble home in Lafayette, Louisiana. As God moved mightily, it quickly became clear that a larger space was needed. Meetings soon shifted to a tent on the newly aquired land in North Lafayette, followed by the construction of the first church building on the corner of Arthur and Irene Street. By the early 1960's, continued growth led the church to 605 S. College Road, where for 40 years, it served as a spiritual anchor and a source of Holy Spirit-empowered ministry for the greater Lafayette area.
In 2008, the church relocated to its current home on Verot School Road in Youngsville, Louisiana. Today, the congregation continues to thrive, faithful to its calling and passionate about reaching Lafayette and the Acadiana region with the love and power of Christ.

Expanding the vision...
First Assembly has a long heritage of Holy Spirit-filled ministry in Acadiana, through the leadership of Rev. Robert King, Rev. Bruce Headley, Rev. Thomas Faulk, and Rev. Joe Cormier. Our church intends to continue that legacy for years to come. In 2022, the church completed construction of its facilities on Verot School Road and planted a new campus in Hayes, LA.
Where we are headed...
As First Assembly grows alongside the Youngsville community, the need for an expanded facility has become clear. We plan to add a Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 building to provide spirit-filled, biblically grounded education that will shape the future generations. With a strong heritage of Christian education in the Lafayette area, First Assembly remains committed to investing in the spiritual and academic growth of young lives.
